MA in Human Rights

Program Description

The Center for Human Rights has been delivering the Master of Arts (MA) in human rights program since 2009. The program aims to offer state of the art interdisciplinary graduate studies in the field of human rights. In this program, the Center aspires to graduate highly qualified professionals in the field of interdisciplinary human rights. The MA program is designed to enable students to deepen their knowledge and strengthen their analytical skills with regard to interdisciplinary human rights issues of a local and global nature. To such end, the program engages highly qualified Ethiopian as well as foreign academics and researchers from various disciplines including law, political science, philosophy, sociology and economics.

MA in Children’s Rights Studies

Program Description

The Center for Human Rights, Addis Ababa University, is pleased to announce a new state of the art academic program ‘Master of Arts (M.A.) in Children’s Rights Studies’ which is the first of its kind in Ethiopia.
The objective of the program is to offer quality and rigorous graduate- level multidisciplinary training in children’s rights studies. Taking the discourse on human rights as a foundation, the program approaches children’s rights issues from diverse academic disciplines including human rights, law, sociology, social work, psychology, and development studies. It aims to graduate qualified experts that have the necessary knowledge and skills to be engaged in different sectors working with children and to address the multifaceted challenges of children in Ethiopia.
The program will include international exchange programs offering opportunities for students to gain international experiences and improve their skills to undertake advanced research practices.

 PhD in Human Rights

Program Description

The Center for Human Rights, Addis Ababa University, is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications for its Ph.D Program in Human Rights.
The PhD program includes an educational component of course-works constituted in 42 ECTS. The educational components provide an education of high academic standard and include training in the dissemination of academic knowledge, introduction to research ethics, the philosophy of science and scientific methods. The program offers modules that may not necessarily be related to the dissertation topics on which students work but contribute to their overall competence in understanding foundational principles and theories of relevance and research.
